Morrison Hotel

The quest to sample some of Brisbanes' greatest steak houses continues with a trip to the Morrison Hotel.   The Morrison Hotel is quite easy to spot driving along the motorway heading in to the city although it can be a little tricky working out how to enter as you do need to use a bus lane.  The interior is fairly modern with seating indoors and out.  We were greeted at the door by a friendly waitress who provided us with our menus and a kids menu for my little nephew.

The Frisky Goat Espresso

After lunch at Sparrow & Finch and gelati at Gelatissimo we headed to the Frisky Goat for 2 warm cuppas before catching the Italian waiters' race. Frisky Goat really is a small coffee shop tucked at a corner of a office building (urban development & infrastructure) but the way the shop has been done up was unique; it was somewhat rustic & fun at the sametime! There are a few indoor high tables and stools and outdoor seatings.

Sparrow & Finch

Yay! WE have finally made it down to Sparrow & Finch! Miss food hunter has noted quite a number of commendable cafes sprouting in and around the brisbane city area but they seem so far reaching as neither of us work in the city nor do these cafes operate over the weekend. Last friday, we had some business with the city council and we were excited to go downtown!

Era Bistro

Little Green Cafe

We've heard that the Little Green Cafe serves up a good cuppa and so in seek of a light lunch on a windy weekday, we thought this would be an ideal place to visit.

The Olive

Miss food hunter spotted The Olive on Urbanspoon sometime over the period of the Brisbane flood recovery and has been really keen on visiting since Middle Eastern cuisine is one of her favourites. Finally, the day arrived when we stepped foot onto their newly refurbished restaurant. Miss food hunter has been patiently waiting for their doors to reopen....

Evo Espresso

Spotted Evo on beanhunter.com sometime ago and since we were around the vicinity we thought we'd pop by after breakfast. Evo is a smallish cafe focusing primarily on coffee and light offerings such as banana bread types and sandwiches on their menu (none when we visited on a sunday though).

Yeronga Bakery & Cafe

On our last visit to Ned's at Yeronga we reminded ourselves we'd have to return to Yeronga bakery one day as there were massive queues and we had to uncover what all the Hooha may be about...Here is the post (late but) as promised.

Buddha's Festival

After a movie at the southbank cineplex, we headed for the annual Buddha's Festival. We strolled around the Suncorp auditorium where the main events are held and thought to ourselves that the turnout this year looked rather sad as compared to previous years. As we walked towards the performance arts theatre where the food tents were anchored, then we realised where the real crowd was all this while ;p

Thanh Quyen

There are always so many choices when it comes to vietnamese food in Darra and Inala that sometimes a little place in an inconspicous location becomes forgotten.  Thanh Quyen is one of those places.  Mr food hunter has been to this place before when he was just a child but it was only when some friends mentioned this place as one of their favourites that the memories came back.  So for a bit of nostalgia and on our friends recommendation, we went for a little stroll down memory lane.....

Re Del Gelato

After lunch at The Smoke, we proceeded onto Re Del Gelato for it is just a minutes drive away for more sweet cravings. We personally do not think Re Del Gelato has the Best of best intense-flavoured or textured gelati in town but at least there is good variety to tempt anyone's tastebuds! Oh and its reasonably priced too!

Yatala Pies

A short post on  Brisbane's arguably most famous pie shop, Yatala Pies ;p.  Located along the edge of the pacific motorway, Yatala Pies has been a popular rest stop for happy travellers on the way to and from the gold coast.
