Marine World Seafood Cafe
Mr food hunter was craving for good seafood on his birthday and a quick check on Urbanspoon saw Marine World on the no. 2 spot. Reviews from others were excellent and we decided to make a day going about the East side of Brisbane.
Willes
After a show at the Balmoral cineplex, we headed to Willes for a simple lunch. It was hectic busy, the queue was snaking long, staff were frantically trying to tie in the orders and even a nicely dressed lady boss (we presume?) came out to help clear tables.

Comfort at My Table
A revisit to Comfort at my Table and Miss Food Hunter never fails to order a pot of their Soy Chai Tea. Its a must for Chai tea lovers and best shared between 2. This time around i had the pleasure of sharing the pot with my Mum who has now found a new love for spiced tea.

Toasted Ciabatta and Trio of Dips...Lovely! |
Yum Yum Yum is all i'd wish to say for starters on this post on Sprout Cafe! Family came down to Brissy for a week long holiday and so the food hunters were treated to a series of 'good eating' in the past week. Sprout Cafe has lovely soft wooden furnishings, dim lighting and the layout so simplistic that the whole dining experience felt casual and somewhat communal.

Pompidou
We had such a pleasant mid-sunday afternoon yesterday.....
There is this tranquility being in Hawthorne and with the expansive park nearby, it felt wonderful to have a stroll around after our satisfying meal at Pompidou!Saturday, July 23, 2011
Nest Cafe
This post was meant to be about 3 weeks back but it was in someway forgotten being caught up with other posts. Nest Cafe is part of a block of units and located down a very quiet lane away from heavy traffic. We were there on a weekday lunch and their main patrons were business people from around the area. It was past 2pm but there were many who came in for takeaways.

Milk Ashgrove
This is our second visit to Milk and the first was at their Newmarket outlet which is much smaller in terms of seating capacity. And the reason for why we enjoy Milk, is for their signature Milkshakes that are truly frothy and comes in a tall metal cup.

The Ponycat Cafe
What a great addition to the cafe/ restaurant scene along Brunswick street! Au Cirque is probably the only prominent breakfast brunch place along this stretch and we can see that the Ponycat is fast becoming a strong contender! We arrrived slightly before 12noon on a windy saturday and service was busy busy but thankfully, a friendly waitress came to us and told us we could have the high table indoor soon as she cleared it and that she'd take our orders.

Soul Bistro
We would have liked to have taken at least a shot of this very simple eatery nestled at a corner of Milton Centro, but lunch was a little bit of a rush as we had an appointment to make after. The first time we tasted Chef Terry Leung's creations was way back in June 2006/7 as there was a X'mas promo on at their food & Soul restaurant at Auchenflower. We have been wanting to try his new venture- Soul Bistro for some time now and finally we've made it here....

Anouk
We're sure that majority of foodies are familiar with Anouk at Paddington. Anouk is synonymous with most highly rated breakfast/ brunch places such as Au Cirque, Gunshop and Pearl Cafe. Last Sunday, we met up with our close friend for lunch and here is the latest's Anouk has to offer....

GPO Cafe & Bar
After a day touring around Toowoomba, we entered the warmth of GPO for our dinner. The setting was simple, lightings were lovely and very cosy indeed, especially under the blaring flames of a large hanging heater.

Genies Cafe
Genies Cafe is a convenient lunch stop for UQ staff and students when you are after something different outside the usual refec fare. Genies uses Lavazza beans and they do churn out a good cuppa almost every visit. Miss food hunter does a little takeaway detour whenever she walks from one faculty to another.

Fraiche Deli
We have been to Fraiche a fair few times now and we love it for her quiet suburban-ness and just fresh simplicity in their food. If we recall correctly, Merlo used to be served here but now it is Veneziano.

Sparrow & Finch
Yay! WE have finally made it down to Sparrow & Finch! Miss food hunter has noted quite a number of commendable cafes sprouting in and around the brisbane city area but they seem so far reaching as neither of us work in the city nor do these cafes operate over the weekend. Last friday, we had some business with the city council and we were excited to go downtown!

Little Green Cafe
We've heard that the Little Green Cafe serves up a good cuppa and so in seek of a light lunch on a windy weekday, we thought this would be an ideal place to visit.

Evo Espresso
Spotted Evo on beanhunter.com sometime ago and since we were around the vicinity we thought we'd pop by after breakfast. Evo is a smallish cafe focusing primarily on coffee and light offerings such as banana bread types and sandwiches on their menu (none when we visited on a sunday though).

Dudley Street Espresso
We have passed Dudley Street Espresso a gazillion times and finally, we made it a point to visit
on this very bright & cool saturday morning! Dudley was busy busy but we managed to nab 2 stools at the far end of a long wooden communal table.

Home Store + Cafe
After a trip down the sunday Bardon market to pick up some fresh produce and as always have a few nibbles (coffee from Xpresso & a Jam Brioche from Ferny Hills Bakery) we went straight to Ashgrove hoping to find Home Store to get some brunch. We couldn't recall the exact address but knew it was somewhere near Milk Cafe @ Ashgrove. We wandered around for just a while and hey presto...we found it! Judging by the name, we were expecting to see a big store; scale on par with a home centre/store but this is really opposite from what we thought.
