After lunch at The Smoke, we proceeded onto Re Del Gelato for it is just a minutes drive away for more sweet cravings. We personally do not think Re Del Gelato has the Best of best intense-flavoured or textured gelati in town but at least there is good variety to tempt anyone's tastebuds! Oh and its reasonably priced too!

Gelateria Cremona
This is just a v. quick post to Announce that our all-time favourite gelati shop has re-opened!! YAY to the newly refurbished Gelateria Cremona @ Rosalie. We were quick to tuck into our cones of gelati that we had forgotten to take snapshots of it...Oooops! But surely, the time will come when we make our way there soon again!
Just to let you in on a couple of interesting flavours available at the moment; Anzac biscuit, Trifle, Hot Cross Bun, Sweet Potato, Honey, mixed Raspberry & Mandarin and Pear. Gelateria Cremona offers an array of interesting flavours according to season, special occasions, festivities etc. I remembered there was Earl Grey Tea over Valentine's which i absolutely loved and also Jackfruit sometime in the 3rd quarter of the year!!

Passione Gelateria & Dessert Bar 2
After brunch at The London Club we proceeded 2 doors away to Passione Gelateria as we wanted very much to try their other flavours. We saw an advert at the door promoting Ravioli either crab or spinach & ricotta on sundays...hmmmm!
For desserts, we ordered a trio of Passionfruit, Tiramisu and Chocolate Mint. We found the sorbet too sweet for our liking though there is evident high pulp content. The tiramisu and chocolate mint were creamy but relative to other gelaterias, these were alot milder in flavour.
We also had our pick of chocolate and meringues from the display cabinets. The chocolate nibbles we selected were from top left clockwise; Dark chocolate i) Mango creme, ii) Brandy and iii) Rum chocolate truffles. The mango creme was really sweet but the liquer truffles were good with the bitter chocolate shell. Passione's boutique chocolates are outsourced.
In addition, Passione offers a fair selection of cakes and other Italian treats like the Cannoli. Personally, we wouldn't go out of the way for their gelati. There are favourites much closer to home!

Just Soy Cafe 2
Here is the round up from Just Soy's, we would have a few more extra pictures to put up but the camera was sometimes forgotten erm... when gluttony prevails.
Sweeties Paradise 2
We really do love our chinese desserts and can't get enough of them so here is a round up of probably a fortnight's worth of them. We have blogged about Sweeties Paradise and Just Soy before and here is an insight to the other goodies available.....

Passione Gelateria & Dessert Bar
Instead of having it on the go, we opted to sit in and were shown an impressive picture menu of gelati sundaes and desserts, cocktails, more beverages and even savoury tapas to share. The Italian owner recommended the waffles and made special mention that the waffle batter is made personally by him. We were very much tempted but there was simply no room left so a simple order of Hazelnut and Amarena Cherry Yoghurt gelati was made.
Having eaten in almost every gelateria in Brisbane, we found the gelati here to be the lightest in texture and flavour as compared to say Gelatissimo, Milany and Shlix. Hmmm...we say it is quite similar to Gelateria Cremona @ Rosalie, just a touch lighter. The hazelnut gelato had a somewhat nougat flavour and the amarena cherry was lacking in the yoghurt department. Nonetheless, they were still enjoyable and weren't just plain sweet.
Would really like to have some warm waffles topped with gelati now....Oh and did i mention that there is a sundae made with edible gold and costs a bomb! Go check it out!

Just Soy Cafe
Just Soy is another one of our dessert haunts and we have been here countless number of times... Now that we are in the heat of summer, a cool ice dessert is always ideal! But one mustn't forget their specialty soy custard (tofu)that comes with an assortment of toppings.
These are two of our many favourites (ha!), the soy custard with matcha syrup and an ice shaving with 3 toppings of choice; taro balls, green beans and fruit pieces were chosen this round.
The soy custard here is light, smooth and has a near jelly-like consistency. There really is a distinct difference among the other soy cafes around Sunnybank and it is really up to individual preference as to which cafe has the "best" soy. The matcha syrup is only available at Just Soy and is a good match with adzuki beans.
The ice shaving here is a little coarse but that didn't matter too much after a thorough stir. The amalgamation of ice, light syrup, condensed milk and toppings really makes for one Sssaa-weet summer quencher! The taro balls are firmer here as they are made of sweet potato flour and another variation is the sweet potato balls. There are also rice flour balls available either original or matcha.
Just Soy tends to be really busy after dinner hours and be prepared to either takeaway or wait for available seating. Hmmm...our next visit will be very soon...perhaps tomorrow??

Sweeties Paradise
We have visited Sweeties Paradise more than a dozen times now and we just can't get enough of their soy custards and other HongKong inspired dessert concoctions. We do visit this small cafe up to twice a week! There is also a new summer menu on top of their already expansive dessert menu.
Our default orders here are the soy custards topped with fruit and for durian lovers out there, the Black glutinous rice & Durian in Vanilla sauce is a must try!
Soy custard with Watermelon
We have tried soy custards from many places around the sunnybank area and the version here tends to be lighter in soybean flavour and texture. We do like the silky smoothness of the soy custard here but some may prefer a stronger soybean taste and a firmer more gel like texture of soy custard like that from Just Soy Cafe (sunnybank hills). Sweet Dessert Shop (sunnybank hills market square) has also a good soybean taste but the silky texture can be rather inconsistent.
Black glutinous rice & Durian in Vanilla sauce
The black glutinous rice had bits of corn in them for extra bite and the durian was 100% fresh pulp. Two scoops sitting atop a frappe like vanilla sauce makes for one great dessert that is neither too sweet nor creamy.
Crushed ice with Special sweet soup with Mango, Pumpkin balls & Grass jelly
On another occasion, we shared a crushed ice dessert with their special sweet soup from the summer menu. Unlike, the taiwanese or south-east asian shaved ice dessert where plain ice is sweetened with added syrup and condensed milk, the ice here is blended with mango or coconut at times and a Frappe forms the base. The pumpkin balls were soft and chewy and lightly pumpkin flavoured. We have also tried one with taro balls, black beans and grass jelly. The taro balls had good taro flavour!
We are and will always be back for more!
