Sake Restaurant & Bar

Amabuki Daiginjo- Probably the easiest Sake to drink for Miss FH

Miss food hunter together with her parents were looking for traditional japanese fare but unforuntately, Ajimi was closed on a wednesday night and Miss food hunter thought to detour to the closest @ Eagle street. Though Sake offers more contemporary Jap, we were all really glad we tried!

Sourced Grocer

Sourced Grocer is the perfect place to be when one's looking to stock up on some gourmet deli treats and to enjoy a simple quality breakfast with a good cuppa within a seconds reach. As the cafe only has one communal table and a few window seatings, it is not recommended for large groups. Weekends can get really busy and probably best to just takeaway!

Sprout Cafe

Toasted Ciabatta and Trio of Dips...Lovely!

Yum Yum Yum is all i'd wish to say for starters on  this post on Sprout Cafe! Family came down to Brissy for a week long holiday and so the food hunters were treated to a series of 'good eating' in the past week. Sprout Cafe has lovely soft wooden furnishings, dim lighting and the layout so simplistic that the whole dining experience felt casual and somewhat communal.

Friday night @ The Gabba

Rymill sparkling Chard Pinot & Te Whare Ra Sauv blanc to kick start the night !!

We weren't technically at The Gabba but rather near it...We decided on dinner at The Crosstown Eating House as it has indeed been a very long time since our last visit. On our first visit, Crosstown hasn't had the Uptown lounge bar yet on the 2nd floor and so we were excited to see what the new bar may be like....Things have changed a little....you get your menus, cutlery, salt & pepper etc. on the table all ready for you.

Hellenic House

We were quite surprised upon entering the Hellenic House to see a vast hall where the greek community gather for conversations and their games of chest...or some other game perhaps... We suppose this is the original Greek Club? The interior is rather dim so we decided to sit outdoors right at a far end, after placing our orders at the counter.

Aria Brisbane

Complimentary Amuse bouche Mushroom Veloute
We had a small gathering of 4 gd'ole friends at Aria for lunch today and boy was it a delightful experience! It is a weekday and we must say that Aria is doing very well, service was busy and we suppose the Lunch Course Specials are indeed attractive deals!

Day out @ GC & Burleigh Brew Co.

We planned for a weekend out at Gold Coast as we booked in for a tour at the Burleigh Brewery. We revisited one of our favourite Japanese restaurant- Yuuga at Surfer's for an early lunch before the tour. We like Yuuga for the variety in their bento lunch sets, their reasonable prices, friendly service, restaurant atmosphere and but of course, quality of food.

Vapiano

Mr and Miss food hunter have been to Vapiano a long long time ago when it first opened in brissie.  We left quite happy at the time but havent been back in a while.

Soul Bistro

We would have liked to have taken at least a shot of this very simple eatery nestled at a corner of Milton Centro, but lunch was a little bit of a rush as we had an appointment to make after. The first time we tasted Chef Terry Leung's creations was way back in June 2006/7 as there was a X'mas promo on at their food & Soul restaurant at Auchenflower. We have been wanting to try his new venture- Soul Bistro for some time now and finally we've made it here....

Kingsleys Steak & Crabhouse

The Fam headed to Kingsleys to celebrate the 30th birthday of Mr food hunter's brother. It was a celebratory occasion and the view & ambience of Kingsleys gave it that extra special touch! It wasn't over the top fine dining and was ideal for Mr food hunter's little nephew. He even received a kids colour pack on arrival.

Archive Beer Boutique Take 2

Archive's Schnitzle is really popular amongst the diners and we see why...THE SCHINITZ comprises of a large, moist, tender chicken breast deep-fried to perfection and served with creamy, chunky mushroom sauce and crispy thick-cut beer battered chips. It really is a very hearty dish...Burrrrrp!

Lee House Korean BBQ

It was Mr food hunter's brother's 25th birthday and so, we decided to try Lee House as Korean bbq was his pick. We called up earlier to make reservations for a table of 7 and apparently, they don't accept reservations and neither are they BYO. Since it was a mid-week dinner, we're probably fine anyway.

Ouzeri

Ouzeri is probably one of the older restaurants in the West End precint and yes, we have walked passed it countless times and for some reason we've always turned elsewhere for Greek food. After dinner at Era's, we strolled pass Ouzeri and it was really busy. The aromas that wafted around and the colourful presentations we saw, were indicative of a visit soon and a couple days later, we returned for a weekday lunch.

Guzman Y Gomez

After having a couple of snacks in between meals at Jan's Powerhouse last saturday, we decided to have a light lunch before we drove home. Truthfully, Mexican food is not one of our faves but we thought, since we were nearby that we should give Guzman Y Gomez a shot seeing as it was a casual fast-food type of joint.

China Beauty Restaurant

Wow! We will say it straight up that China Beauty Restaurant is a place we'd definitely return to. China Beauty doesn't seem like much at first glance, but the interior decor is a pleasant surprise as oppose to its exterior facade.

Morrison Hotel

The quest to sample some of Brisbanes' greatest steak houses continues with a trip to the Morrison Hotel.   The Morrison Hotel is quite easy to spot driving along the motorway heading in to the city although it can be a little tricky working out how to enter as you do need to use a bus lane.  The interior is fairly modern with seating indoors and out.  We were greeted at the door by a friendly waitress who provided us with our menus and a kids menu for my little nephew.

The Olive

Miss food hunter spotted The Olive on Urbanspoon sometime over the period of the Brisbane flood recovery and has been really keen on visiting since Middle Eastern cuisine is one of her favourites. Finally, the day arrived when we stepped foot onto their newly refurbished restaurant. Miss food hunter has been patiently waiting for their doors to reopen....

Thanh Quyen

There are always so many choices when it comes to vietnamese food in Darra and Inala that sometimes a little place in an inconspicous location becomes forgotten.  Thanh Quyen is one of those places.  Mr food hunter has been to this place before when he was just a child but it was only when some friends mentioned this place as one of their favourites that the memories came back.  So for a bit of nostalgia and on our friends recommendation, we went for a little stroll down memory lane.....
