Thanh Quyen

There are always so many choices when it comes to vietnamese food in Darra and Inala that sometimes a little place in an inconspicous location becomes forgotten.  Thanh Quyen is one of those places.  Mr food hunter has been to this place before when he was just a child but it was only when some friends mentioned this place as one of their favourites that the memories came back.  So for a bit of nostalgia and on our friends recommendation, we went for a little stroll down memory lane.....

Kim Thanh

To be honest, our actual destination was Quan Thanh a few doors away and we didn't think of making reservations (you'd have to!) as the next day was start of work day. It was going to be a half hour wait with no where to sit, so we decided to dine at Kim Thanh's instead. I was reluctant then as we have brought Miss food hunter's cousin to Kim Thanh's a year ago but was relieved when she said she didn't mind it again as she remembered the food to be delicious!

Spicy Green Papaya Salad- Refreshing with plenty of peanuts & cooked onions for flavour and texture, but not your typical punchy asian salad. Not sure where the Spice comes in this dish??

Tra Vinh

Tra Vinh is one of the latest addition to the Vietnamese food scene in Inala. The interior is just like any other restaurant in the area; simple, basic settings with always a wide-screen TV to entertain. Tra Vinh offers dishes that are typical of most Vietnamese menus but they do proclaim to specialize in noodles and so...oodles of noodles on order it is!

Phuong Trinh

Just a quick lunch at one of our frequented Vietnamese restaurants in Inala- Phuong Trinh. Unfortunately, both of us picked dishes that we don't usually order but have tried a good couple of times, and they have turned out rather unsatisfactory on this visit.

Vietnam Corner BBQ

In celebration of Mr food hunter's sister-in-law's return from a long holiday, the clan of 6 + Miss food hunter arranged for a simple dinner out. We were looking at share food-type places and thought Sunnybank was the way to go. Vietnam Corner is more adjacent to Sunnybank plaza then in the plaza itself. It really is at a corner of a lower ground parking complex but don't be put off by this, there are many other eateries and an Asian provision store around and it ain't shabby at all!

Pho 99

When Miss food hunter first arrived in Brisbane for her undergrad studies, the only place she'd usually head to for Vietnamese food would be West End but all that has changed since being introduced to Inala and Darra. Inala is really the hub for the Vietnamese community and it is of no surprise to see 'that' many viet restaurants and cafes dotted along the periphery of the center.
