Genies Cafe

Genies Cafe is a convenient lunch stop for UQ staff and students when you are after something different outside the usual refec fare. Genies uses Lavazza beans and they do churn out a good cuppa almost every visit. Miss food hunter does a little takeaway detour whenever she walks from one faculty to another.

Mr food hunter dropped by and for his order, he had the Beef Burger on a Damper bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, beetroot, bbq sauce and Swiss cheese and a side of Chips. The burger was average but satsifying! The beef pattie was plain but at least it was moist, the damper bun was soft like a hot-dog bun but  a lil' denser. The sweet bbq sauce & swiss cheese tied it all in nicely.

Miss food hunter had the Chicken Yiros on Turkish with lettuce, tomato, red onion, tzatziki & chilli sauce and a side of garden salad. The turkish was well-toasted but it was more bun-like, the slices of chicken thigh meat were well-marinated & flavourful. Surprisingly, the sour tzatziki went well with the spicy chilli (sriracha). Finally, the garden salad was fresh and dressed with a zingy emulsion.
