A Salt & Battery

A Salt & Battery is where we head to usually for good fish & chips and it is also a very convenient location for us. It was a busy sunday lunch hour with quite a few tables of bigger groups and therefore, the dishes took quite a while to be churned out.

Mr food hunter had the Single Combo which consisted of crumbed calamari, crab claw, a piece of battered Cod and chips. Perfectly cooked, no complaints, all ingested and washed down with a bottle of citrus pink MASH drink!

Miss food hunter had the Grilled Zesty Prawn skewer, fresh pumpkin salad and chips. The prawns were fresh but over done and so it was rubbery. The salad was essentially well-roasted sweet Jarrahdale pumpkin in a fresh primarily rocket garden salad in a citrus dressing. They do live up to their claim of "Best Chips in Town". Though there may not be Grill'd's rosemary seasoning or Salsa's spicy mexicana seasoning, the texture of a fluffy chip with crunchy exterior is unbeatable! Hmmm..like that of beer battered chips!  Good thing Mr food hunter had a mountain of chips for Miss food hunter to conveniently pick at...

A Salt & Battery also offers cold seafood options but their cooked options are really the way to go here...Battered, crumbed or grilled fish, choices of different styles of marinated seafood (e.g. prawn & octopus), at least 3-4 fresh salad varieties and even plenty burger options too. Judging by the number of patrons on all the occasions we've visited, this place is an easy crowd pleaser ; )

Note. We have had grilled fish before and it is perhaps not as good as their battered or crumbed. The fish was not 'As Grilled' as we would have liked it and on this visit, the prawns were over-grilled!

  1. glad you enjoyed. I have totally had mixed experience at A Salt and Batt but the salt and pepper calamari is always good.
